چکیده

— We report a high data rate (upto 1 Gbps) Ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver for very low power applications. The transmitter side, including pulse generator (PG), power amplifier (PA) and on-chip antenna, consumes only 7 pJ/b (3 pJ/b w/o PA). The novel UWB on-chip antenna has relatively low loss of 10 dBi and allows for a more compact overall system suitable for area constrained implantable and sensor node applications. The receive side includes an active band-select filter (ABSF) and an ultra wideband low-noise amplifier (LNA). The ABSF has more than 3.9 GHz bandwidth with less than 3 dB insertion loss. The low-voltage LNA consumes 2.56 mW and achieves a minimum noise figure of 3.35 dB with 10 dB power gain and an IIP3 better than-6.8 dBm. The total area of transmitter is 0.62 x 0.48 mm 2 and receive side covers an area of 1.9 x 0.94 mm 2. The system is implemented in IBM 0.13 µm standard CMOS process.

Intra-Chip Wireless Interconnect for Clock Distribution Implemented With Integrated Antennas, Receivers, and Transmitters

A wireless interconnect system which transmits and receives RF signals across a chip using integrated antennas, receivers, and transmitters is proposed and demonstrated. The transmitter consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator, an output amplifier, and an antenna, while the receiver consists of an antenna, a low-noise amplifier, a frequency divider, and buffers. Using a 0.18m CMOS technology...

100 GHz ultra-wideband (UWB) fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA) system for in-building and in-home networks.

Fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA) system can be a cost-effective technique for distributing high frequency signals from the head-end office to a number of remote antenna units via passive optical splitter and propagating through low-loss and low-cost optical fibers. Here, we experimentally demonstrate an optical ultra-wideband (UWB) - impulse radio (IR) FTTA system for in-building and in-home applica...

A Novel Small E–Ring Shaped Monopole Antenna with Dual Band-Notch Function for UWB Wireless Communications

This paper presents an E-ring shaped printed monopole antenna for UWB applications with dual notched bands performance. In order to generate single frequency band notch function, we applied a U-ring shaped monopole antenna, and by inserting a rectangular ring in the centre of it an E-ring shaped radiating patch created and a dual band-notch function can be achieved. The measured bandwidth of th...

An Improved CPW-Fed Printed UWB Antenna With Controllable Band-notched Functions

A newly designed printed slot antenna is presented that incorporates variable two band-notched functions for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The two band notches of this coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed antenna are achieved by an M-shaped slot (MSS) embedded in the radiating element and a C-shaped strip (CSS) close to ground plane, therefore two very narrow rejected properties in the wireless lo...
